Oscars-Friday before

So, have I hooked you on my exciting story yet? But wait, there's more.....

We arrived at our hotel, the Hollywood Orchid, which was in an amazing location. It nearly shared a wall with the Dolby Theatre, and as a converted apartment building, included a full kitchen, private patio, pool, and rooftop garden, all for $150 a night. Once we got settled in, we walked over to the theatre to check things out. They had already been setting up for weeks, so it was fun to see the progress as they converted Hollywood Blvd into the red carpet. I found that fascinating, it just looks like it's a permanent structure on TV but actually they just put carpet down on the street and build the red carpet around it, and when it's all over, they dismantle the whole thing and it's just a street again.
To the left is the stairway/entrance to the Dolby theatre, and on the right side is the street

That gold entrance is the El Capitan theatre where we viewed the Oscars after the red carpet was over

Most of the red carpet was covered in plastic but....
