My first fall

I had fun in the backyard taking pictures of Josie experiencing her first fall today.

Can you tell I'm having so much fun having a baby?

So, you might be saying enough with the contests already but..... I am going to submit a picture for the Children's Place Model Search, and I thought I might use one of these. Do you think that I think she's cute? Why yes, I do. So......which one do you think would be the best for that? Just tell me the number of the photo, starting from the top. They are a bit clearer than this in reality, I just have to downsize the quality to get them to load within my lifetime on this blog.
Thanks for your help!

The necessary and required picture

Doesn't EVERYONE own the obligatory picture of themselves with all of their siblings in the tub from some point in their past?

50 Shades of Annoying

I can only say this book was horrible. Suck. Double suck. Suckola. I can only surmise that lots of "non-readers" read this book and that's why it's made it on the New York Times Bestseller list. I am not saying this to be a snob, but to say that if you are a regular reader, you will see instantly just how poor the writing is in this book. If you aren't, you might not notice, and just get hung up in all of the sexual detail that is provided. Or just think it's a great book because you don't have much else to compare it to.

Despite the level of awful this book reached, I did finish book one. I like to think of myself as a committed reader. Once I start a book, I will finish it. HOWEVER, I could not justify spending another minute to read books 2 and 3, so I will just have to trust that the writing continued to suck at the highest level and I would be better off spending my time cleaning my toilets or flossing.

If I was extra witty, I would have come up with 50 ways this book sucked, but I only have these for you. Apparently, when this author discovered something she thought was incredibly hip or charming to say, she decided that the phrase simply must be used no less than 73 times throughout the book. Here's a few examples:

1. Crap. Double crap.Crapola. Holy Crap. Are we in 4th grade?
2. My inner Goddess. Enough with that already. Does anyone in real life refer to their Inner Goddess?
3. My subconscious. Refer to point 2.
4. My breath hitched in my throat. Does this happen to anyone really? On a regular basis?
5. I murmured. He murmured.  Did I said or he said become outdated?
6. He's so beautiful. Every time she walked into a room and saw him, she had to launch into this huge discourse about how beautiful he was and how he was shirtless and how his jeans hung on his hips. Honestly, we got it after the first time you described it.
7. Don't bit your lip. Have you ever needed to rip some one's clothes off the second you see them bite their lip? Is this a turn on I am missing out on?
8. I'm beguiled with you. Here's another example of the author discovering what she saw as a clever word and overusing it to death.
9. She trips twice and stutters/stumbles over her words upon their first meeting. She never gives us convincing material to understand how a guy like this could be attracted to what appears to be a bumbling idiot.
10. And finally, here is an excerpt that shows that no editor must have been involved in this book:

"Saturday at the store is a nightmare. We are besieged by do-it-yourselfers wanting to spruce up their homes. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton and Jon and Patrick-the other two part-timers-and I are besieged by customers."

Yuck! Aargh! I simply must fulfill a dream of mine to write a book someday. It seems anyone can make it to the big time nowadays.

Anyone else agree with me?

A day in the life

I'm trying remember to capture everyday moments while everything else in our lives seems in turmoil. We have to be reminded to pick up the camera because life is still going on and I would sure hate to miss it!

A new era

With this new mobility, we are now briskly ushered into the era of smashed fingers in drawers, bumped foreheads and bit tongues/lips on falling down when standing, and tons of crap eaten off of floors which should not be. But still, it is so cute to walk away and then back and see what she's getting into now.

Nine months & vote for Josie

Luke's latest nickname for Josie is Quata. So, Quata is now 9 months. How quickly time flies! She has gotten extremely mobile in the last few weeks so now she's crawling around and pulling up on things. Time to finish putting in those outlet plugs!

Also, in case you haven't seen my email or FB requests via Rob's account, you can vote for Josie for the Gerber contest, for a chance to win $10,000 towards her college education! You can vote every day between now and September 24th. There are 6 categories (she was entered in the "sitter" category") and there is a winner, determined by voters, for each. There is also a GRAND prize winner, determined by their judges, for $50,000 and a feature in the Gerber ads. Of course, I am positive that we will win because every time I enter any contest I am always sure I will win and truly stunned when I do not. So, let's hope this one is a reality! Of course, Jack started very excited at the prospect of Josie winning and in turn, him receiving a bit of that cash to pay for the rest of the Ipod Touch he is saving for, but NOW he is stressed out that we might win, because of course then we'd be rich and bad guys would hear about us and break in to steal the money and kill us.

You can't make these things up.

So I hope we win but won't die for it.

An example of bad naked

Let me tell you a story. Because, you know my mission of this blog is to continually educate my readers.

I put Josie down for her morning nap, so I figured that would be the best time to sneak in a shower. I brought the monitor in the bathroom, stripped down for the shower as you do, and as I was getting ready to step in to the shower, noticed the screen went dark on the monitor, letting me know the video end was no longer perched on the top of the crib as it should be. Being that it is attached to a cord, I naturally sprinted into Josie's room to be sure it wasn't in her crib. I readjusted the monitor out of her reach, and then crept out into the hallway to spy on her next moves through the crack in the door. Naturally Josie wasn't startled that I came into her room naked after putting her down for a nap, and just rolled with the punches.

As I watched her, I felt like I probably shouldn't get into the shower until she was on he way to Sleepydom and I knew she wouldn't get into any sort of jam requiring my assistance. Being that it shouldn't take long to get to that point, I didn't think I really needed to go the hassle of getting my robe on and all that jazz. No one was home and remember, I live in the country so that's how you can roll out here.

As it got longer and longer into the watching her get sleepy stage, I figured I might was well be productive and work on my grocery list as I was going to be hitting the grocery after she got up. As I made my list, I realized I needed to confirm that I had butter to make my sister's yummy banana french toast casserole recipe in the morning for friends, so I opened the fridge to confirm. That's when a pitcher of lemonade came crashing to the floor spilling everywhere. It is noteworthy that when I placed the lemonade in that spot earlier I thought how much it would suck if it tipped out and spilled everywhere as it was perched a bit precariously on the shelf, but figured it would probably be fine.

Do you remember that episode of Seinfeld where he gets a new girlfriend who likes to do all sorts of things naked, but then he realizes, there are good naked and bad naked things to do? Good naked things might be washing your car with lots of suds, or maybe running your fingers through your hair. Bad naked includes things like operating a jackhammer, or say bending down to clean up a pitcher of lemonade that has sprayed all the way into the next zip code.

So learn from me, my friends. Watch, and learn. It's what I'm here for. This was DEFINITELY a case of bad naked.
